Team Building Archives | Tipsy Putt

Remember how much fun you had playing mini golf with your friends and family when you were a kid? Well, at Tipsy Putt, you can feel like a kid again but with the added bonus of adult beverages! When it comes to a mini golf bar combo, we are the only game in town. Literally. It’s the perfect spot to hang out with friends after work or to have a date night.

Life Hack: Swing by Our Mini Golf Bar for Your Next Party!

Looking for a unique venue for your next party? Tipsy Putt has that covered too. Delicious food? Check. Local beer and adult beverages? Check. Themed decor and semi-private rooms or event space? Check. Entertainment that appeals to everyone? Check and check. If you’re interested in having a Tipsy Putt party in the East Bay, we have some tips that will help make it un-fore-gettable!

Don’t Play Hangry

At Tipsy Putt, there’s no reason to play on an empty stomach. We are locally owned and take great pride in offering the best in fresh, casual California Mexican cuisine. We even have several vegetarian options, and our vegan friends can enjoy a potato and soyrizo taco with black bean corn salsa and chipotle vegan aioli.

For parties of 10 or more, you can choose a catering option where the food is served buffet-style. We take care of the setup and cleanup. You can choose from a taco bar, nacho bar, and delicious party salads that serve 10 to 15 people each. Don’t forget about our house-made guac, salsa roja, and pico de gallo that come with our chips and guac bar. For dessert? What could be better than freshly made, warm churros? How about caramel and chocolate sauces for dipping along with your choice of toppings?

If you’re hoping for a quieter atmosphere for your party where you have the whole place to yourself, we do have options for parties in the morning. Our brunch selections include a classic breakfast bar, bagel bar, and fruit salads.

Order From the Bar

Even when you choose the catering option, your guests are also welcome to order from the pub menu. Tipsy Putt is a server-less restaurant, so you don’t have to wait around to order food. Walk right up to the counter (look for the neon taco sign) and order from the touchscreen at the kiosk. You’ll get a text message when your food is ready, and you pick it up at the window. How easy is that?

The only hard part about getting food at Tipsy Putt is deciding what to get! Choose from a range of street tacos or salads, or get food to share. Nachos, pretzels, churros, mini beef birria quesadillas, and our flaming hot elote bowl (fire-roasted corn with chipotle mayo, cotija cheese, cilantro, and topped with Flaming Hot Cheetos) are sure to be a hole in one with your guests.

Get Into the “Spirit” of Competition

When you get thirsty from all the delicious food or want to take the edge off before teeing off, Tipsy Putt is proud to offer locally owned and brewed craft beer, hard cider, wine, and draft cocktails, in addition to non-alcoholic beverages. If you’re looking for something truly unique, check out our hidden-in-plain-sight speakeasy, Trophy Club, before or after your mini-golf game. Your guests can enjoy seasonal, handcrafted cocktails, barrel-aged liquors, aromatics, wines, and champagne, all in an intimate setting.

Enjoy Above Par Games

Even with all the incredible food and drink options, arguably the best part of a Tipsy Putt party in East Bay is the games. While you’re waiting for your tee time or for your food, you can enjoy interactive games like Duffleboard (a tabletop game combining shuffleboard and golf), Cornhole, and 1-2 Putt.

But the star of the show at Tipsy Putt is the challenging mini-golf course. When you host a Tipsy Putt party in the East Bay, you can purchase limitless games as part of your package or pay as you go. Although our mini-golf course is plenty of fun on its own, if you want to mix things up a bit, consider the following tips.

Play By Your Own Rules

Katherine Hepburn once said, “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.” Spice up your mini-golf party with some new rules, like:

  1. Make it a team sport. Split the group up into teams and combine their scores. You could even have your own pro-am tournament by pairing the best players with those who might not be quite as competitive.
  2. Add a different challenge for every hole. For instance, on the first hole, everyone has to putt with their non-dominant hand. On the second hole, everyone putts with their eyes closed. You could also try putting backward or through the legs or using the golf club like a pool cue to tap the ball in the hole.
  3. Change the objective. Instead of trying to get the ball in the hole, everyone tries to get as close to the hole as possible without going in. Limit the number of strokes each player gets to two or three.

Include Penalties and Prizes

Raising the stakes is another good way to get everyone’s competitive juices flowing. At the beginning of the round, everyone puts a little money in the pot. Winner takes all! If you don’t want to play for money, you could also incorporate prizes. Most dollar stores have cheap trophies, or you could get a green jacket (just like the Masters!) or green shirt or green hat or clothing of your choice from a thrift or costume store. Have fun with it!

On the opposite end, you could also include penalties. For instance, the person with the highest score has to buy a round of drinks.

Relax and Let Us Do the Heavy Lifting!

Parties should be fun, not stressful. When you make a reservation and plan a par-tee with us, we take care of the details, so you can focus on the fun. Whatever the occasion, we can accommodate parties as small as 6 and as large as 500. Choose from indoor spaces, outdoor spaces, or maybe combine the two, depending on the number of guests. Call or email us today to start planning your Tipsy Putt party in the East Bay.

Not Your Usual Girls’ Night Out

Not Your Usual Girls’ Night Out

Tired of the same old California bars and restaurants? If you’re looking to mix things up for your next girls’ night out, we have the perfect bar for you in downtown Sacramento. You and your friends may have been to craft cocktail bars or pubs before, but at Trophy Club, you will get the full immersive experience of a true speakeasy.

Hidden from the authorities, speakeasies of the past had to be exclusive and innovative, serving the most daring and new cocktails available, as you’d see in The Great Gatsby. At Trophy Club, we are carrying on that experience, but with a modern and creative twist.

What Makes Trophy Club Unique?

Trophy Club is hidden inside the mini-golf pub Tipsy Putt and is a speakeasy in the most authentic way. In other words, we can’t even tell you exactly where the entrance is until we see you in person. You’ll have to discover this hideaway location when you arrive. Just enter Tipsy Putt on K Street, walk down the stairs, and ask the host to show you the way.

Trophy Club is a speakeasy with a membership, recalling the modern cocktail revival speakeasies and pubs of lower Manhattan and other American cities in the 2000s. Remember the legendary Please Don’t Tell (PDT), where entry to this day is through a nondescript phone booth inside a hotdog shop? Lift the phone, and you enter a different age and time, like you’re at Gatsby’s mansion. Building on these amazing innovators in the craft cocktail space, Trophy Club offers an exciting combination of all exclusivity and innovation, but with a down-to-earth and easy-going vibe, perfectly suited to a girls’ night out like you’ve never had before.

Our commitment to cocktail authenticity is also the ticket to a personalized flavor adventure for you and your friends. Through a carefully executed and distinctive approach to cocktail curation, our expert servers and bartenders will anticipate your exact cocktail aura, leaving you feeling pampered like you and your friends have spent a day at the spa.

Everyone likes some flavors and not others: sometimes sweet and fruity for an easy summer sip, other times spirit-forward and boozy for those nights when nothing but a strong Manhattan will do. But don’t worry, Manhattans are only scratching the surface of what Trophy Club has in store for anyone wanting the best drinks in Sacramento, crafted and served by the best of the best, all in a space that is truly special. Want to impress your friends like Gatsby? Then come on down.

Join Us, Won’t You?

For a one-time $250 fee, you will become a lifetime member at our one-of-a-kind Sacramento speakwasy. While Trophy Club is open to the public, our members always take priority and will always be seated immediately. Non-members will likely have to wait for a space to open. Once you’re a member with us, you also get invited to exclusive special events. These invites get sent out quietly through email, keeping them on a need-to-know basis, so you can stay a part of our fun but exclusive inner circle. Trophy Club combines all the pomp and flair of the fanciest bars in history with a truly welcoming and open spirit (pun intended).

You and your girlfriends will no longer have to spend time looking around for somewhere that isn’t loud and crowded to have a decent drink. Instead, you’ll be able to impress anyone with your new-found knowledge of craft cocktails and a swanky setting only you know how to find. You and your friends can get dressed up to the nines or come casual and make your way to the swingin’-est speakeasy in town for ritzy drinks and a Roaring ’20s atmosphere. Experience the personal touch that only a truly original and welcoming club like ours can. Trophy Club is the Sacramento cocktail renaissance, made fun and easy for any palate or personal taste.

It’s a Full-Service Experience

Planning something special? You can also book events with us! Make a bachelorette party stand out from the standard fare and show off to all your friends how your new speakeasy membership is the bee’s knees. The Trophy Club has plenty of space too. It can hold up to 50 guests, making it an easy location for a wide variety of events, from an intimate cocktail party to that free-wheeling after-hours work party.

You can find more information about rates, catering, and drink options for private events on our website. And you can conveniently book the space online as well. Whether you decide to join us as a member, come as the guest of a member, or simply come in to check us out, we look forward to seeing and serving you. We’re sure you’ll have the time of your life with us.

Multiple Options for Girls Night Out

And don’t forget, that inconspicuous entryway to Trophy Club isn’t in some dim alley or just a random metal door on the corner. It’s inside a full-service bar with a fully decked-out mini golf course. So, for those other nights out, when you want to cut loose and play a game or two, Tipsy Putt is another venue for bachelorette parties, birthdays, and more. Proudly serving only local brands of alcohol, Tipsy Putt is a hole-in-one for all occasions. Any girls’ night out you’re planning will be well served by these two distinct and professional establishments, with the common feature of being a total blast.

Trophy Club is already expanding through the Northern California area. In addition to downtown Sacramento, we also have a location in the East Bay.

So, what are you waiting for? Come discover North California’s most exciting secret for your next girls’ night out at Trophy Club, the best-kept secret you never knew you needed.

5 Tips for Your Most Tee-riffic Mini Golf Game Ever

5 Tips for Your Most Tee-riffic Mini Golf Game Ever

There’s nothing like playing a game of mini golf in the East Bay with your buddies. The camaraderie is unmatched when you put a handful of friends, a beloved game, and local alcohol together. Tipsy Putt combines all of these things along with an exciting atmosphere to create an experience you won’t soon forget. It’s no wonder so many people are looking to up their game for their next visit.

If you’re someone who likes to play to win, you may want to prepare a bit for your next mini golf game. Luckily, there are a few tips and tricks you can incorporate that may give you an edge over your opponents. Things like loosening up beforehand, keeping a watchful eye on your opponents, and practicing more often can really contribute to the results you’re looking for. With these tips and a little confidence, you could find yourself on the winning side of things more often.

So, if you want to become a better mini golf player, we have you covered. Here are a few tips to help you have an un-fore-gettable golf game.

1. Take the Edge Off

When you arrive to play mini golf in the East Bay, you’re playing to win. The feeling of beating your friends and family in a fun game of mini golf can bring true joy to any player. While you should definitely play to win, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously. Too much focus on winning could mess up your game and throw you off. It can pay off to play it cool in these sometimes-tense situations. We suggest taking the edge off by enjoying some local beer, wine, or a draft cocktail while you play.

They don’t call us Tipsy Putt for nothing. With a wide selection of alcoholic beverages to choose from it won’t be hard to find a drink that catches your eye, and you can find comfort in knowing that we only serve local beer, local wine, and locally-owned spirits for our cocktails at our East Bay location. Enjoy a drink or two with your fellow players to loosen yourself up for an epic game of mini golf. Or you can increase the stakes by making the loser pay for the next round. You may even find that you’re having such a good time that you no longer care about who wins or loses.

2. Observe Your Opponents

It may be tempting to offer to go first when playing mini golf. It’s such a fun game that many people are chomping at the bit to get started, and if you’ve been practicing, you’ll likely be ready to show off your progress. Resist the urge, though. There are a few benefits that come with not going first that can really increase your chances of having your most tee-riffic game ever.

One of the benefits of not going first is having the opportunity to observe your opponents. If you’re on a course that you haven’t played before, you can take the time to watch for any mistakes that your opponents are making and avoid them. You also might find that a player is using a technique that is securing them the lead, and you can copy it to make your big comeback. Use this strategy to your advantage to increase your chances of winning.

3. Focus on How You Hit the Ball

When it comes to mini golf, the goal is pretty simple: you want to hit the ball into the hole. The closer to the hole, the better, but the way you hit the ball matters, as does the position of the club when you do it. Focusing on these things could be helpful when you’re trying to become a better mini golf player.

You can put more focus into how you hit the ball by considering where you want the ball to hit the putter. Ideally, you’ll want the ball to hit directly in the middle of your putter. This can give you more control over the direction the ball goes. Hitting the ball primarily with the top or bottom of your putter could cause it to hit the ball diagonally so that you miss your target completely.

4. Take Advantage of Obstacles

Scoping out the course is a wise decision for any mini-golfer and should definitely be done before every game. Getting a look at the lay of the land could help you to come up with strategies to incorporate. Every hole is different, and you may find that there are a few obstacles and roadblocks in your path to a hole-in-one. For most players, this will be seen as a hurdle you’ll have to overcome, but with a change of mindset, you may find yourself in a winning position.

Instead of looking at these obstacles with fear, try to consider how they can work in your favor. You may find that aiming for an obstacle in your path can allow you to bounce into a clearer path to your target. Use the obstacles to your advantage by thinking outside of the box and not trying too hard to only avoid them.

5. Practice Makes Progress

As with most activities, the only way to get really good is to practice. It takes time and determination to truly become good at golf. When you put in the work, you’ll notice that some things start to come easier than they did before. You may begin to develop a technique that carries you through to win after win.

The nice thing about practicing mini golf at Tipsy Putt is that you can have fun and enjoy a great atmosphere doing it. Mini golf is a game that’s meant to be enjoyed with a group, making it the perfect opportunity to gather your friends together for a good time. Starting a biweekly or monthly tradition of mini golf can help you up your game and stay closer to your friends and family. Adults can have fun too, and Tipsy Putt in Emeryville is the perfect way to do just that. Stop by Tipsy Putt for a tee-rific time!

tipsy-putt-5-ideas-for-taking-company-teambuilding-to-the-next-level

If you’re a business owner or manager, you may be looking for team-building activities that will create a strong rapport among your employees. If so, you’ve come to the right place.

Tipsy Putt has creative ideas to take your company team-building event in Sacramento to the next level of fun and then some. Here are five team-building ideas sure to bring your team closer together.

1. Mini Golf

Who doesn’t love a round of mini golf, especially when you’re duking it out for bragging rights in a friendly competition with your coworkers? Let your employees take swings at each other—figuratively, of course—on the putt-putt course.

Your team can let loose and hang together after the office has closed for the day with good food, local beverages, and fun games. At Tipsy Putt in downtown Sacramento, there’s a little something for everyone. In addition to mini golf, we offer cornhole, 1-2 Putt (like a combination of shuffleboard and golf), big Jenga, board games, and other entertainment options. Your team can tee off in a friendly, laid-back environment that allows them to relax, get to know each other better, and just have some good, old-fashioned fun. Your team will also love the opportunity to Putt Tipsy! We have over 40 draft handles serving up local beers, wines, and spirits as well as a delicious restaurant serving up casual Mexican food like street tacos. Try the nachos—they’re a fan favorite!

2. Escape Rooms

What better way to get your team to work together than to lock them in a room until they’re able to figure their way out of it? Escape rooms are an excellent team-building activity because everyone will need to put their heads together to solve the clues. Racing against the clock, your team members will have to listen carefully to one another as they strategize their next move.

Not only are escape rooms fun and challenging, but they’re also a creative way to get your team to exercise their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in a high-stakes, deadline-driven environment. Everyone escapes together or gets trapped together, so it’s the ideal activity to demonstrate the importance of helping one another achieve a common goal.

If your group can escape the room successfully, they’ll be able to take pride in knowing they accomplished the task at hand. If not, it’s a good opportunity to assess what worked, what didn’t, and the lessons they took away from the experience.

Escape rooms provide more than an immersive experience. They’re an opportunity to grow your team, assess their ability to communicate with one another effectively, and evaluate how to build upon their strengths moving forward.

After your great escape, bring the whole team to Tipsy Putt to celebrate. You can debrief over some delicious food and drinks and keep the camaraderie going.
Note that, while this option isn’t offered at Tipsy Putt, there are multiple options for escape rooms in Sacramento.

3. Scavenger Hunts

Scavenger hunts are an awesome way to get around town and immerse yourself in your city’s history and culture. Another plus is that you can organize a scavenger hunt yourself if you wish. Just divide your staff up into groups and provide them with a list of things to find or places to visit. Have them snap a photo or record a video to show they reached their destination or performed each task on the list.

You can get as wild and creative as you want with a scavenger hunt. Have your group serenade a stranger or use their local knowledge to find the oldest watering hole in town, for instance. Give teams a time limit, set them loose, and encourage them to work together to complete the tasks on the list. Whoever checks the most boxes in the end wins.

Scavenger hunts can show your team how to strategize and use their time wisely. For an added challenge, award tasks or items with a different number of points based on difficulty level so teams will have to prioritize which they want to tackle.

When it comes time to show off your “finds,” keep the atmosphere light and meet somewhere fun. At a venue like Tipsy Putt, you can compare your results while enjoying local fare and drinks.

While this option isn’t offered at Tipsy Putt, there are multiple options for scavenger hunts in Sacramento.

4. Social Soirée

While a team-building outing is always fun and exciting, you may want to simply give your employees some time to unwind and socialize. When you plan your par-tee at Tipsy Putt, you can order a la carte off our menu featuring tasty Mexican fare or opt for a full catering experience. You’ll also have limitless game options and can add in a trip to the hidden speakeasy offered in a few of their locations.

If you want to host your social soirée with us, we’ll craft the perfect event for your team at our Sacramento, Emeryville, or South Lake Tahoe locations. From a small group outing to a large corporate event for hundreds, we’ll throw you a custom par-tee with just the right theme and atmosphere.

5. Trivia

Have your team battle it out and test their wits at a game night of trivia. You can plan it yourself or let Tipsy Putt do the work for you. Your staff members can compete against one another or team up to face off against other competitors at our Tuesday trivia nights.

Give your team members prizes or the honor of bragging rights for whoever comes out on top. Trivia nights are an awesome way to find out who on your team has hidden knowledge and random factoids up their sleeve. What better way for your team members to get to know each other a little better?

Let Us Help With the Planning
